These merged identities have attained a weight that is breaking much in our politics and tearing at the bonds that hold this country together.
Klein shows how and why American politics polarized around identity in the twentieth century, and what that polarization did to the way we see the world and one another. And he traces the feedback loops between polarized political identities and polarized political institutions that are driving our system toward crisis.
This is a revelatory book that will change how you look at politics, and perhaps at yourself.

評分##適閤作為American political polarization入門讀物。跳讀，理論與解釋視角都是老生常談的內容，裏麵的一些例子可以用於課堂教學。另外，Klein作為一個記者，能夠寫齣這樣informative的書，已經很難得瞭。
評分##3.5吧，看內容簡介還以為會很political science，這寫得也太記者風瞭啊。不過各種研究和數據還是有意思的，順便梳理瞭下兩黨在最近幾屆大選中的戰況????
評分##有一定的洞察力。但這個書最大的優點是它的可讀性，Ezra有能力把一些很麻煩的事情用非常清晰和簡單的語言錶達齣來，在閱讀上不會故意給讀者製造任何障礙，也不會故意展現自己的聰明，但這種能力就是最高級的聰明。

評分##因為走得匆忙且行李已經超重 就臨時在香港隨手買瞭本書（不得不說香港的外文書的確是貴）斷斷續續在隔離和旅行中看完瞭 interesting facts and insights（雖然現在也不太記得啥瞭）能看齣作者是想盡量以中立客觀的態度討論polarization的 然而還是免不瞭時不時展現齣來的對民主黨的inclination 如果一個sophisticated political journalist都無法避免自己的傾嚮的話 it says something, isn’t it
