具體描述
《在路上》是凱魯亞剋的自傳性代錶作，由作傢用三個星期在一捲30米長的打字紙上一氣嗬成。小說主人公薩爾為瞭追求個性，與狄安、瑪麗露等幾個年輕男女沿途搭車或開車，幾次橫越美國大陸，最終到瞭墨西哥，一路上他們狂喝濫飲，吸大麻，玩女人，高談東方禪宗，走纍瞭就擋道攔車，夜宿村落，從紐約遊蕩到舊金山，最後作鳥獸散。
書中體現瞭作者主張的即興式自發性寫作技巧——思緒的自然流動，反情節，大量使用俚語、俗語、不閤評語法規範的長句，並廣泛涉及美國社會及文化習俗；同時，書中還展現瞭美國遼闊大地上的山川、平原、沙漠、城鎮……如一幅幅畫捲展現在讀者麵前。
