　　胡庚申，英国剑桥大学英语与应用语言学博士后学人，清华大学二级教授，澳门理工学院客座教授。领衔创建“国际交流语用学”和“生态翻译学”两个研究领域。国内外发表文章180余篇，出版专著、教材、文集22部。完成国家社科基金项目，获国家教育部优秀教材一等奖，国务院政府特殊津贴获得者。

　　Formal meetings usually include general assembly，plenary sessions，parallel sessions，andposter sessions．Other possibilities include panel discussions，round．table discussions，andworkshops．
　　（1）General Assembly
　　General assembly is usually attended by all the meeting participants and sometimes bygovernment officials as well as reporters．Activities in a general assembly，in most cases，arc theopening ceremony，welcome speeches by government officials and organizers，general speechesgiven by distinguished guests or outstanding experts，and the closing ceremony．Substantialpaper presentations in the eneral assembbpaper presentations are usually not arranged in the general assembly．
　　（2）Plenary Sessions
　　Plenary sessions of a conference arC usually attended by all the participants．Invited lecturesor keynote presentations arc usually arranged in plenary sessions．These lectures，invited andarranged by the organizers．arc usually given by well．known experts of a particular field，andthe papers presented on these occasions arc all about some research subjects of universalsignificance and general interest．The plenary lectures or presentations often take longer thanthose in parallel sessions．and arC usually followed by questions or discussions．
　　（3）Parallel Sessions
　　Parallel sessions，as the name implies，refer to smaller．scale meetings held simultaneously，which are therefore also called simultaneous sessions．These sessions are the important occasionsfor participants of a particular research group to present their individual papers．Usually aspecial topic is arranged for a particular parallel session，and a larger conference usually hasseveral or dozens of such topics for discussion。
　　（4）Poster Sessions
　　Poster sessions arc an activity in the meeting in which papers arc posted on boards or wailsin a specially。separated area of the meeting place．The participants can go there and read theposted papers and discuss them with the writer waiting there．and case the writer is not around，there may be a small box near the paper where the writer‘s name cards arc available or a specialplace for the participants who want to leave messages for the writer．The area where each paperis to bc posted is often predetermined by the conference，and the printed materials for displayshould be clear enough and convenient for distant viewers．
