He now works on one of the biggest ideas to come out of mathematics in the last 50 years: the Langlands Program, considered by many to be a Grand Unified Theory of Mathematics.

Frenkel 显然在语言表达上相当有天赋,作为非英语母语的数学工作者,能够完成这样一部清晰而有吸引力的作品的确很棒;但是更为重要的是这本书传达的核心观点之一:即应该把数理研究最前沿最震撼人心的部分展现给青年人,大学初期教育甚至中学教育中能够瞥一眼山峰会是很珍贵的体验。 2. 这本书也算是 Frenkel 的自传,了解了更多他的故事后,原来质疑的方面(包括对媒体和大众的过度注意力)消解了不少;另一方面书中提到当初 Frenkel 决定继续留在哈佛时 Borya Feigin 曾对他说在美国会被很多诱惑分散注意力,应该回莫斯科。不知Feigin现在作何感想。 3.
