Before you can swallow a chunk of cheese, Stilton's first class ticket has been downsized and he finds himself sharing a flight on "Dirt Cheap Airlines" with his entire family. It turns out Geronimo's cousin Trap has set up a treasure hunting vacation for the whole family in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Geronimo's peaceful vacation turns into a rollicking adventure with lots of laughs. Along the way, he (and his readers) learns all about this area of the country, from Mount Rushmore to Devil's Tower (which is just across the border in Wyoming). Sprinkled among the large typeset are phrases in playful, colorful fonts. The cartoon illustrations add humor and a comic book feel with funny captions and dialogue, making this a terrific early chapter book for new readers.
