由于林雨翔整天在家门口背古文，小镇上的人都称之为才子。被允许读其他书后，才子转型读现代小说，读惯了古文，小雨翔读起白话小说时畅通顺快得像半夜开车。心思散极，古文全部荒废，连韩非子是何许人都不记得了。中国的长篇小说十部里有九部是差的，近几年发展得更是像广告里的没有最差，只有更差，只可惜好莱坞的金酸梅奖尚没涉足到小说领域，否则中国人倒是有在国际上露脸的机会。所以，读中国长篇小说很容易激起人的自信，林雨翔读了几十部后，信心大增，以为自己已经饱读了，且饱得厉害——不是人所能及的饱，而是蛙蛇过冬前的饱，今朝一饱可以长期不进食。
