Tara Westover and her family grew up preparing for the End of Days but, according to the government, she didn’t exist. She hadn’t been registered for a birth certificate. 评分##文笔算不上多好 但是故事很生动 我们没办法选择自己的出身 自己的家庭和父母 唯一能做的 也就是给自己拼一个未来 想起之前读过的god is not great. 有些宗教信仰真的不算好.

评分##一个读来甚至觉得难以置信的故事，Tara能够依靠自己的力量挣脱原生家庭的泥潭变成一个那么优秀的学者真的太不容易了。我觉得即便是到了现在，相信这种经历带给她的梦魇肯定还会时不时窜出来。极端的父亲可以一千次把希望扑灭，但却依旧会被Tara在chapel里的歌声打动，在Tara去英国的时候说如果去了大洋彼岸就不能开车把你接回来。Shawn会在Tara差点因为付不起学费drop out的时候给她经济支援。关于自我觉醒的力量。作者还是比较冷静地来叙述自己的经历，其实文笔谈不上有多出色。
评分##They are more complicated than the roles they are assigned in stories. What she has undergone and achieved is such encouraging and uplifting. I identified with Tara Westover for the most part.
