When George and The M an with the Yellow Hat visit the animal shelter, George is delighted to discover a large litter of puppies. At first, George just wants to pet the puppy, but then he wants to hold one. George’s curiosity gets the best of him, and soon puppies are everywhere.

作者简介

The Reys were born in Hamburg, Germany. Hans Augusto Rey (1898-1977) met his wife-to-be, Margret (1906-1996), at a party in her father's home in Germany; when he first caught a glimpse of her, she was sliding down the banister. In their twenties and thirties they lived in Paris and in Rio de Janeiro, where Hans sold bathtubs in villages along the Amazon River. Eventually Cambridge, Massachusetts, became the Reys' home and community. Throughout their lives the Reys created many lively books together, including SPOTTY, PRETZEL, and lift-the-flap books such as HOW DO YOU GET THERE? The manuscript of the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and CURIOUS GEORGE was published in 1941. Their incorrigible little monkey has become an American icon, selling millions of books and capturing the hearts of readers everywhere. CURIOUS GEORGE has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.

"Following the style of the original creators of the Curious George books, the artists have provided young readers with a new story. George is a curious monkey, and one day he goes out with his good friend—the man with the yellow hat. They sit on a park bench and find a kitten. They decide that the kitten should be taken to the animal shelter, and then we see what happens when George's curiosity really takes hold. He is captivated by the puppies, and before you know it, he has let them out of their cage and my goodness they are into everything. As the man with the yellow hat and the director of the shelter gather them all up, they notice the mother dog barking at a door. One of the puppies had gotten away earlier in the day and hidden in the closet, now he is rescued and joins the rest of his family. George is instrumental in bringing about a happy ending, and, what is more, he ends up taking one of the puppies home. George is really very much like any curious two or three year-old. The original version of this story has been reissued in a lap-sized board book."

　　这个故事的内容大致是：头一个冬天快要结束的时候，太阳在一片积雪的原野中惊讶地发现了一朵彩虹色的花，经过一个漫长的冬天，彩虹色的花迫不及待地想要从地底钻出来，并且和大家分享自己的快乐。从这个时候开始，她不断用自己的花瓣帮助各种小动物……直到第二个冬季风雪来临，她的最后一片花瓣被风雪吹走，花茎折断，被风雪逐渐掩埋。故事到这里的时候，快乐、惊喜、满足的基调在篇幅上大概占到了70％的篇幅，哀伤的基调占到20％。接下来10％的内容又一次地转向愉悦和惊喜：在白茫茫的大地上突然升起了彩虹色的光芒，那些受过帮助的小动物们都聚集在彩虹下方，当他们仰望这道光芒的时候都想起了彩虹色的花曾经给过自己的帮助，他们都感到了阵阵的温暖。故事本来可以在这里结束，但翻到最后一页，我们发现作者将我们的惊喜又上升到了更高的一个层次：第二年春天的原野上，太阳探出头来，他吃了一惊：“早安，彩虹色的花，又见到你了！”

　　我常看见一些孩子从家里带来的图画书，尤其是一些名著改编成的图画书，全都是用电脑制作而成，画面虽然色彩鲜艳，但整体特别的呆板、缺乏灵气。国内图画书的这种风貌大致是受迪斯尼图画书的影响形成的。迪斯尼的图画书都改编自动画片，在动画片中，多幅画面连续快速运动而形成了光线的变化，并因为这种光的变化使画面富有生气。但动画片一经改编成图画书就失去了大多数的画面，仅剩一些在内容上可以承接、但却无法构成光线变化、因而去生气的画面，这些画面颜色虽然亮丽，但却缺乏灵性，一团死气。
