　　综上所述，这两类测试不仅支持了上述发现，还得出了额外的、有趣的结果。如果只向被试大脑的右半球呈现某一物体的图片，那他们既不能说出物品的名字，也不能描述它。事实上，患者也许根本没有言语的反应，或否认有任何东西出现。但是如果允许患者伸出左手（仍然只用右半球）到屏幕下触摸物品，他们总能找到与视觉呈现相同的物品。
　　测试发现，右半球也能很好地思考和分析物体。加扎尼加曾报告说，在展示某一物品的图片（比如香烟）给被试的右半球时，允许被试在屏幕后触摸10种物品，但里面却没有香烟，并让其选择最接近图片的一件物品——在本研究中是一个烟灰缸。加扎尼加继而解释道：
　　“然而，太奇怪了！即使在他们正确反应之后，并在他们左手握着烟灰缸时，他们也不能说出或描述实物烟灰缸以及图片上的香烟。显然，在知觉和知识方面，左半球和右半球完全分开了。”
