In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child--not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power--the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.
Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology, including the Minotaur, Daedalus and his doomed son Icarus, the murderous Medea, and, of course, wily Odysseus.
But there is danger, too, for a woman who stands alone, and Circe unwittingly draws the wrath of both men and gods, ultimately finding herself pitted against one of the most terrifying and vengeful of the Olympians. To protect what she loves most, Circe must summon all her strength and choose, once and for all, whether she belongs with the gods she is born from, or the mortals she has come to love.

##这是一本从女性视角讲诉希腊神话的娓娓道来的小说，我愿称之为一个女人的史诗。大众熟知的史诗都是男人写的，写的也都是男人，波澜壮阔，喊打喊杀，这何尝不是一种玛丽苏？那些拿这本小说跟女尊文或者荷马史诗作比的人未免也太可笑了，我只感受到了社会对于女性依然深重的偏见，以及我们需要更多像Madeline Miller这样的作家。

评分##很少读希腊神话的我觉得耳目一新，非常喜欢！作者文笔非常好，有声书的朗读也好听。
评分##我竟然听完了，真的就只有最后1/4比较有趣，之前的所有角色都predictable到了一定程度。全世界都对不起女主，所以她被流放前做的那些和她同族一样冷酷自私的事并不妨碍她稳站道德高地。Daedalus做错了什么被写成和她同病相怜的怪物制造者......结尾也够双标，只写她和Telemachus结合(先吃完不会变老的种族福利)，而不提Penelope和Telegonus这对。小说结尾Prometheus应该已经获释了吧，对女主那么重要的角色好歹提一下啊(不了不了，免得女主又要谈恋爱????)。这个玛丽苏故事就是上半年各家书店推荐的女性小说，挺失望的。
评分##开头还挺有趣，但之后就写成了一个披着希腊神话皮的晋江女尊文，一度以为自己在刷ao3同人。所谓的女权主义女性觉醒都是皮毛，更像是后期营销贴的标签。不过这个类型还挺适合HBO拍成剧的。
评分##好好看！几年前在上coursera的《奥德赛》的时候，就特别喜欢Calypso和Circe。“她注定会爱上每一个经过的男人，但他们都不得不离开。” 这本书又把希腊神话知识给我巩固了一遍，很棒很棒。
评分##Humbling women seems to me a chief pastime of poets. As if there can be no story unless we crawl and weep. They barely care if you are wicked. The only thing that makes them listen is power. 书名干脆翻译为《白莲女神误入凡尘之我要复仇》???????????? 你看女????锤不锤你就完了
评分##永恒只会让你变成疯子，狠狠抓着流失的东西哀鸣，而凡人却可以因生命的短暂而珍惜生活。看这本书就明白无论多么有文化有文采，当你的生活一成不变时，你写出来的东西有多幼稚。幼稚地去妄想所有的神（除了你的主角）都是疯子，妄想自己一直在给予获不得回报，妄想一个千年生命的女神最在意的和青春期少女无他。作者应该写mortals的故事而不是神，因为短板很明显。文笔还是不错偶有佳句。后四分之一才有点好看，前四分之三写来完全浪费时间。
