What do topics ranging from organic chemistry to Napoleon's campaigns have to do with computer programming? This collection of essays demonstrates the many varied aspects of programming, showing how programming can be both a fun and elegant science. Some of the essays cover programming techniques, like how profilers can provide insight into the dynamic behavior of programs, and methods for making data files self-describing. These techniques deal with real programs and they are realistically illustrated, using the C and Awk languages. Bentley also provides the reader with some tricks of the programmer's trade, like a collection of rules of thumb and hints for finding simple solutions to hard problems. ##一星期简单就看过了这本书，很多内容基于前一本。不过我觉得作者有些地方有些太过geek，太过偏激。一直在说小语言多么多么好，一直在说awk多么多么方便。。。唉，读着不是很高兴。。
评分##看了后，感觉跟第一卷有很大不同，更注重于编程的习惯，策略；而不是一些具体有趣的问题。像 profiling 这个，还是看看这个书比较好：code optimization: effective memory usage. 好像也有翻译版本的了
