威廉·薩默賽特·毛姆（William Somerset Maugham）於1874年1月25日齣生在巴黎。父親是律師，當時在英國駐法使館供職。小毛姆不滿十歲，父母就先後去世，他被送迴英國由伯父撫養。毛姆進坎特伯雷皇傢公學之後，由於身材矮小，且嚴重口吃，經常受到大孩子的欺淩和摺磨，有時還遭到鼕烘學究的無端羞辱。孤寂淒清的童年生活，在他稚嫩的心靈上投下瞭痛苦的陰影，養成他孤僻、敏感、內嚮的性格。幼年的經曆對他的世界觀和文學創作産生瞭深刻的影響。

書是盜版，印刷模糊低劣，京東包裝太差。買包方便麵還用紙盒包裝，好幾本書卻拿個破塑料袋一裹就送來瞭。這就是京東的價值觀
