The Silmarillion is an account of the Elder Days, of the First Age of Tolkien's world. It is the ancient drama to which the characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in whose events some of them such as Elrond and Galadriel took part. The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-Earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included in the book are several shorter works. The Ainulindale is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabeth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Numenor at the end of the Second Age and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age, as narrated in The Lord of the Rings.For the first time, we are publishing a deluxe edition of this pivotal work, featuring the revised, corrected text and including, by way of an introduction, a fascinating letter written by Tolkien in 1951 in which he gives a full explanation of how he conceived the early Ages of Middle-earth. 2016年12月12日下單，價格361元，12月14日到；優點：書籍絕對正版，紙張很厚實，圖片精美，12月12日有點小優惠，快遞給力：缺點：精裝圖書居然沒有任何保護（就用薄薄的塑料膜包瞭一下），書外硬殼居然比書本高一小點，導緻我拿書一點安全感都沒有，書外硬殼一角居然還有淡淡的磨損痕跡。最後，給這單打個3分，希望京東方麵改進並撫慰下我受傷的心靈,支持京東！

全套購買有額外的一個大書套，另外三本分彆是children of Hurin、the hobbit、Lord of rings，可惜京東上沒有整套Box set，而分冊也都已經沒貨瞭。

很漂亮的一本，全新有塑封，更難得的是精靈寶鑽三十周年紀念版，京東這次是用紙箱發貨，打開之後很驚喜，書完好無損，都捨不得拆開，想要集齊一套，不過價格真的有點貴
