Douglas Adams is the author of five books in the Hitchhiker's Trilogy including The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; The Restaurant at the End of the Universe; Life, the Universe and Everything; So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish; and Mostly Harmless. He lives in London.

　虽然一直是个身不由己的倒霉蛋，但这一部里，亚瑟全然像个被输入了任务指令的精神分裂症。八年的颠簸和故土的失而复得已经让他失神，然而指令高于一切，所以一步一步，在雨神的关照下，他在泥泞的四月里拖着双腿和胳膊，无可奈何地奔向了加利福尼亚，然后落寞地搭上了福特大老爷弄来的飞车（顺便还轧死了一片，这反而比整个星球蒸发掉更毛骨悚然，毛骨悚然不是<指南>的风格啊）。

两次书都有外观问题，第一次书边没裁齐，第二次换的封皮又被折一角。看着在网页晒单的齐整大方的原版书照片，真是无语。这本廉价书有印刷制造出现的质量问题，也有京东出库运货环节带来的问题。不只是京东，亚马逊也有类似问题，真不知从哪里买书了。网购就这点不如卖场好。
